Christians, the Christian religion, or its practice. Anti-Christian sentiment is sometimes referred to as Christophobia or Christianophobia, although these terms actually encompass "every form of discrimination and intolerance against Christians", according to Council of European Episcopal Conferences.”(1)
There isn’t a lot of news or news articles that really report anti-Christian culture, but they do report on anti-Islam, anti-gay and any and everything else anti. CNN did a report on May 3rd, 2013 about: “When Christians become a 'hated minority' during Peter Sprigg’s public speech about the opposition of homosexuality, something odd happened. During the speech, people raised their hands about the assertions of the Bible, while Christian’s never stood up to defend him, because they were afraid of being labeled a bigot. They came to him after the speech and whispered in his ear that they agreed with him. Sprigg is a spoken for The Family Research Council, and claims that these new assertions has caused a new victim-closeted Christians. This is quite alarming to me as a believer we should be defending Christ and the Bible instead of agreeing with the world. We will be held accountable for this as Jesus said, if you’re ashamed of me, I’ll be ashamed you. I certainly do not want Christ to be ashamed of me, would you? Littfin, a Moody Bible Institute Theology Professor said, Christians should be able to publicly say that God designed marriage for man and woman. He even went so far as to say, since when is disagreeing the same as hate? While on the other hand Mark Jordan states “Truly damaging speech cannot be excuses because it expresses religious beliefs. I say really? There are many other religions that do just this, they express hatred in their religious beliefs, and we see this all the time with Islam. Quoting the Bible should never label you as a hater or bigot, its God’s word!
· Are these attitudes and ideas congruent with a biblical worldview?
I believe so yes, I truly believe that the biblical worldview is not always the Biblical view or God’s view on things.
· Why or why not?
Because the world has a total different view when it comes to the word of God, for example: Beal, who is a religion professor at Case Western University in Ohio, says” it should be difficult for any Christian to unequivocally declare that the Bible opposes homosexuality because the Bible doesn’t take a single position on the topic. It's an assertion that many scholars and mainline Protestant pastors would agree with”. This is a direct quote from a Christian Professor. All through the Bible it clearly states that homosexuality/sodomy is a sin and an abomination to God. Beal also states that Jesus said very little about sex and the Apostle Paul did not understand generics or sexual orientation as we do. (2)
· What, if anything, do the attitudes and ideas presented by the media story reveal about our culture?
Sadly that especially we as Christians’, we refuse to obey the word of God, and that today’s culture is knee deep in sin.
· Were any important details or facts omitted in order for you, as the audience, to really understand the situation being presented?
No, I believe it was spelled out perfectly
· Do you detect any biases? If so, what are they?
Yes I do, the bias is that we all must “get along” and just go with the flow. And I think that they assume that ALL Churches are a like that none of us will stand up for what is right and wrong. And that being a Christian today means that we are hateful and are bigots when it comes to sin.
What does it mean for “anti-Christian culture” to be the #1 issue facing today’s family? According to Wikipedia, the definition of anti-Christian is: ”Anti-Christian sentiment is an opposition or objection to
